The Weather Girls came out to play last night, and the attractive duo had a successful run through the end of the I13 Midnighter arc, and also a couple of the Faultline arc mishes, with all the chatty EB’s (which went down surprisingly easily)

Not without it’s moments of comedy, as at the end of the last midnighter mish, when there are about 3 simultaneous Boss ambushes, HT faceplanted, and WL ended up speeding round and round the cargo hold with all the Warriors following her until she could drop spare insp on HT

Incommunicado

I’ve been incommunicado for a bit, I had an offsite course at the end of last week.

Anyway, the Shield Maidens romped through the end of Posi, and swiftly morphed into another trio who, for want of a better name, we shall call the Weather Girls. And it was indeed raining men as the utter awesomeness of Ice Patch stacked with Freezing Rain turned every? mish into a bit of a turkey shoot.

The Shield Maidens came out to party last night and they, like, totally beat up on everything and they almost totally finished the Posi task force.

Maiden US was like, bashing things, and like Maiden Shibuya was like bashing things too, and like Maiden Afrique was like hitting things too. Even those freaky floating dudes.

They only ended up face down in the last club of the night, it was all that vom from those freaky dead dudes eeyoouu !

Virtual Sweat Shops

There is a really interesting article here about the source of all that annoying spam email that hits your MMO account.

The tone is a bit morally ambiguous, a bit like to industry itself.

It overlooks the whole issue that any such gold mining is immediately in breach of the EULA of whatever MMO you happen to be playing. And of course you have some net-twat wittering on about new economy/development 2.0 (yuck)

Also, the workers are poorly paid and work long hours, though anyone who’s been to the UAE, or bought underwear from Primark can’t claim to be whiter than white.

I quite liked the bit about the division of labour between the geek-boy/proles and the college-educated young woman who did the marketing/client liaison.

Maiden Over

As advertised last week, the shield maidens made an appearance this week, and after clearing out a few old missons, the 3 maids started a run at the Posi TF, started off well against the Vaz, and the second mish Clockwork came and went fairly speedily.

Then last mish of the night, CoT was much nastier, with a couple of almost team wipes.

Mind you the one major advantage of an all tank team is that as long as one of your comrades is still going, so much taunt is being generated that you can pop a wakie right in the middle and no one notices.

I14 Mission Architect details

More CoH news, they’ve announced more details on the new Mission Architect Feature

  • full XP for all missions (they were thinking about only have partial XP)
  • Full Character costumes (I wonder, can you save your characters constume to disk as a template and import it into the MA creator ?)

On the Boo-side

  • Ticket drops – rather than random enhnacement drops you get tickets that you can cash in at a “Ticket Vendor”

More complexity, now we have Vangard Merits, Merits and Wentworths to which we now add this ticketting system. They did a good job collapsing down the complex salvage system, only to re-invent more complexity with the proliferation of Merits/Tickets.

I predict a merger by I16 at the lastest.

As to MA itself, I might play with it, as I think I’ve seen pointed out somewhere else, we are going to see quite a lot of “XXX-MyToon-XXX” origin missions.

These would be fun within a SG, but not sure what the wider audience would be.

Still, as I’ve never really done Base Architect, this might be a fun way to “pay back” into the wider community.

A Team Again

Another run out by the A Team, this time with the welcome addition of Ice Mash (Ice/Mace Tank), to the usual suspects (Handshake, Ramblin Syd and Misadventure)

The main bad guys were Malta, with the odd Nemesis (for it was he) and Carnie’s thrown in.

Not bad, back in the groove again, laying waste to all and sundry fairly efficiently, with not too many face plants.

On the sole front, I’ve got back into playing Psy Girl again. She’s finally up to level 33 now, and I treated her to a new costume slot and costume. Still in the green and black theme, but this time with an aura. Now she’s as green and glowy as the mobs she dowses with Rad.

Out with the new …..

Started playing a couple of couple of my older toons solo recently, Shadow Hood, a level 23 DM/SR scrapper (and my first ever toon) and Psy Girl a level 32 Rad/Psy Defender.

It kinda reminded me what I liked/disliked about them. SH is basically a toggle-up and go toon, which is ok for a bit of mindless pounding, but it gets a bit boring after a while.

PG is awsome once you’ve greened up the bad guys, and her output is great when within the virtuous-green-circle of Radiation Infection/Enervating Field, but outside that Defender damage sucks a bit.

Plus the Knockback from TK Blast or her Nemi Staff can knock mobs out of the debuff AoE (esp if you accidentally hit the mob you’ve anchored your debuff to).

At least she isn’t boring though…

Another back to the future run out for the A team last night, this time a little badge-whoring was in order.

The Ganneymeade and Snap Tooth mishes were farmed a bit for badges and costume items. Suffice to say, most of the team ended up more Beautiful or Handsome

Short but sweet

Went online playing City of Heroes with my gaming/uni mates last night, only for about 20 mins, as I was still a bit knackered after seeing my daughters performance in the opening night of the school production “The Wiz” (see other post, when I get round to writing it).

Played one of my older Toons, and my only level 50 to date, Ramblin Syd. In CoH palarance he is a Sonic Blast/Energy Manipulation Blaster.

Even though I hadn’t played him in a while, it was like slipping back into a comfortable old shoe, reassuringly familiar, with the sort of seat of your pants playstyle I enjoy.

Plus, as he has hit the highest level possible, XP debt from defeats is now just slightly embarrassing rather than annoying, so he has become the perfect wind down toon.

I’ll need to respec him at some point, because the changes to the Ancillary Power pools in the I13 release a couple of months ago mean that I could make better use of some of his power choices (why do I always refer to my CoH toons in the 3rd party ?).

But overall, good times.
