Pecha Kucha

Had fun and games today at work. As part of our regular consultants “Brown Bag” lunches, one of the chaps had organised a Pecha Kucha event.

The idea is that to prevent death by Powerpoint, all presentations are rigidly formatted to be only 20 slides long with an automatic transition of 20 sec. This means that all presentations are fixed at 6 mins 40 secs.

Like a complete newbie, I volunteered, of course. And, in fact all of the presenters seemed to be sub-year chaps like myself. Guess we must have something to prove……

Anyway, mine was on FIX from my old Financial Fusion days. Seemed to go fairly well, despite only having about 10 mins practice before hand. Got beaten by the slides a couple of times.

I think that’ll be enough volunteering for a bit.

Short but sweet

Went online playing City of Heroes with my gaming/uni mates last night, only for about 20 mins, as I was still a bit knackered after seeing my daughters performance in the opening night of the school production “The Wiz” (see other post, when I get round to writing it).

Played one of my older Toons, and my only level 50 to date, Ramblin Syd. In CoH palarance he is a Sonic Blast/Energy Manipulation Blaster.

Even though I hadn’t played him in a while, it was like slipping back into a comfortable old shoe, reassuringly familiar, with the sort of seat of your pants playstyle I enjoy.

Plus, as he has hit the highest level possible, XP debt from defeats is now just slightly embarrassing rather than annoying, so he has become the perfect wind down toon.

I’ll need to respec him at some point, because the changes to the Ancillary Power pools in the I13 release a couple of months ago mean that I could make better use of some of his power choices (why do I always refer to my CoH toons in the 3rd party ?).

But overall, good times.
